Four years after the release of their landmark debut in 2004, MTV VMA Award-winning, Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum Island Records group The Killers have completed their fourth album - and first new studio album in two years - DAY & AGE, featuring the new single, "Human" debuting worldwide September 22nd, while the digital single will be released September 30th. The new album hits stores November 25th - two days before Thanksgiving.
DAY & AGE was produced by Stuart Price, a key figure in electronic music (Les Rhythmes Digitales) who previously worked with The Killers on "Don't Shoot Me Santa," their 2007 Christmas single; as well as music on their 2007 compilation, Sawdust. Over the past five years, Price has worked as a producer, mixer, programmer, and keyboardist, including The Killers' "Mr Brightside" remix which was Grammy Nominated.
The Killers - Brandon Flowers on vocals and keyboards, guitarist David Keuning, bassist Mark Stoermer, and drummer Ronnie Vannucci - found time to complete their new album while also wrapping up their biggest summer rock festival season in the U.S. and abroad. Historic headlining gigs at England's prestigious Leeds and Reading fests coincided with an appearance on the cover of NME's August 8th issue. Earlier in 2008, the Killers took home top honors for Best Band of the Year and Best Track of the Year ("Tranquilize") at the annual NME Awards USA gala, at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on April 23rd.
DAY & AGE comes one year after the release of Sawdust (November 2007), a 17-song collection of previously unreleased session tracks, B-sides, rarities and one-offs. The album was assembled at a recording studio in New York's Hell's Kitchen, where the Killers worked with Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Lou Reed two recordings. Two singles and videos were issued: "Shadowplay" (from the motion picture soundtrack of Control, Anton Corbijn's biopic of Ian Curtis), and "Tranquilize".
The
Killers' RIAA platinum second album Sam's Town (October 2006) debuted
at #2 and spun off two hit singles: the #1 Modern Rock "When You Were
Young," nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song and Best Short
Form Music Video; and "Read My Mind," the band's first #1 at Triple-A.
Their worldwide 5 million-selling debut Hot Fuss (June 2004) was the
longest-running rock album inside the top 50 on the Billboard 200
albums chart for all of 2005, logging 94 weeks on the chart - 53 of
those inside the Top 50. The album spun off four solid hit singles -
the Grammy-nominated anthem, "Somebody Told Me," the VMA-winning (and
Grammy-nominated) "Mr. Brightside," the Modern rock hit "Smile Like You
Mean It," and the Grammy-nominated "All These Things That I've Done."

What the...!!! 10 points!
Ok, hands down the Killers win with this one. I mean, the sound of
this album is remarkable, the music is awe inspiring and the lyrics hit
you in the face! I always relate to music and lyrics that make you
think and inspire and the Killers do this so well with the one. "This
is your life" gives waiting for the right thing new vigour and...My
recommendation is to buy this CD or all of the MP3s. You will not be
disapointed 'cause in the end all you have to do is listen, feel, smile
and repeat!

Not your usual holiday CD
This mix of musicians, tied together with Yo-Yo Ma's fabulous
cello, creates an unusual holiday CD that is hard to categorize. Very
enjoyable.
A wonderful addition to holiday music collections
Each year I purchase a few holiday music CDs and this collection is
a wonderful addition. I enjoy listening to Yo-Yo Ma's performances and
this collection of his performances with a variety of artists is great.
It contains the familiar songs along with others not usually included on holiday collections.
It is very soothing...just what we need during this busy time.

I can't stop listening to this album
Great Escape From Radio Rock "German Love sticks out with its in-your-face drum track, and there's one 'put-you-in-a-trance' instrumental (B Minor). And while this collection may lack an absolutely 'killer' track, some of the songs in the top five of the line-up come close..."Dynamite Walls" from Hayden starts the sampler out strong, and is my personal favorite. Overall, a winner indeed! Maybe the best things in life ARE free. |

A Sexy New Classic
I'm not usually a big fan of original Christmas songs; especailly
cheesy R & B sex-mas carols. :-) But this song is really great. I'd
never really heard Yamin, other than his radio hits, but this song is
really well done. His voice has a sensual warmth to it but the lyrics
aren't dripping with inuendos. It's a subtly sexy song, and a great
addition to my holiday playlist!
Is it really Elliott's "kind of holiday"?
Why is Elliott's album called, "My Kind Of Holiday"?
But as a fellow Jew, I can't help but be a tiny-bit offended by the album title.
Is Elliott ashamed of his Jewish heritage?

Well...DUH! (Look who's doing it!) :-D
Still, that 's why I LOVE it and recommend it if you're looking for something "Christmasy" but different. A little bit comedy, a little bit satirical (in a "kind" way..if satire can be kind) with a "new" point-of-view to the holidays, from a figure not often heard from.

The Gift of Sacrifice
This is one of those songs that gets stuck in your head. Maren Ord's voice is nice, and makes the words worth listening to. The words themselves take a little careful listening to understand, but it's well worth it.

Another winner from Jars of Clay
I've loved Jars of Clay since their first album and now they are a
favorite of our 6 year old son. To be honest, I was unaware that they
even had a Christmas album until I saw this free download from
AmazonMP3. I have heard their fantastic version of "Little Drummer Boy"
years ago, and this Christmas song is another winner from JOC. I need
to get the entire album download now!
Great Song, Great Video
"Love Came Down At Christmas" is a great original tune with it's
folk feel, and great instrumental work. The only thing that could top
the song is its video, which is in an almost Napoleon Dynamite
animation style, which is as original as the song, and makes for a very
entertaining music video.
A very good, and different, Christmas album
On first listen, I wasn't sure what to think of this CD, even
though I'm a big Jars fan. Some tracks, such as "Love Came Down at
Christmas", are catchy and infectious tunes you'll hear on the radio.
The more I listened, the music grew more and more interesting. There
are a few retakes on familiar Christmas songs, but most songs are a
wonderful, eclectic mix of styles and subjects.
